yes, they have a breathable mesh lining which does also make them more comfortable against skin as they dont have that plasticy feel.

Hi i believe they could be used either way, i use them over my trousers to protect my clothing. They do have a lining in so could be used as they are.

They are designed as overtrousers, however a lot of people find they are comfortable to wear on their own as they have a breathable mesh lining meaning you dont get that plasticy feel against your skin.

How often do you have to rewaterproof, as ones I got Xmas 2009 started leaking in March 2010, I went out, and couldn't believe my under trousers were so wet, not just a leak, both legs just soaked. Such a shame as I had been recomending these to everyone, as they were so comfy, and the pockets so useful for dog walking and at dog agility events. Bit embarrassed hope the people I said should buy them don't have leaky ones as well.

It shouldnt need to be done too often but it depends how often you use them. Be carefull how you wash them - dont use normal detergent as this will destroy the waterproofing! Only wash them in pure soap, Nikwax or Grangers recommended for Peter Storm cleaner then re proof them afterwards if necessary.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your experience. It is difficult to quantify how much you need to reproof. If you wear them once a week I would reproof, every month. If you wear them daily, maybe once a week/fortnight. It also depends on how you use them.
